Contains an illustrated guide to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and notes on 10 life threatening emergencies. Information leaflets include guidelines for complete pre-travel preparation, including: vaccinations, malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases, prescription medications to consider for addition to your First Aid Kit.

• Personal Protection Items:
  • Condoms x 2:
    Use for safe sex.

• Medications:
  • Oral Rehydration Salts (Gastrolyte Tablets or Gastrolyte-R Sachets) x 4:
    Use to minimize dehydration by replacing electrolytes and glucose if fluid and electrolyte loss is significant e.g. diarrhoea, vomiting and heat stress.
    Mix 2 tablets or 1 sachet in 200mls of purified drinking water. 1-2 tablets every 3-4 hours. Maximum of 8 per day.

   

• Survival & Environmental Essentials:
• Water Purification:
  • (10% povidone/iodine Antiseptic Solution) (15ml) x 1:

    Use to sterilize one litre of drinking water as follows:

    	Water Conditions:
    	clear	cloudy
    warm	8 drops / 30 mins	16 drops / 30 mins
    cold	16 drops / 60 mins	16 drops / 60 mins

• Example: for warm clear water, for each litre of water, drop in 8 drops of the Iodine Solution and leave for 30 minutes before drinking.
  Caution: Do not use if there is a known allergy to iodine.
  Alternatives: Boil water, Condy's crystals, Puritabs (chlorine based).
  Note: effective against bacteria, viruses, protozoa but not cryptosporidium.
• Insect Bite Prevention:
  • DEET insect repellent sachets x 4:
    Use to prevent mosquito bites. Apply every 3-4 hours.
    Caution: Do not use on infants under 6 months or around the eyes.
