Advisory Bodies / Memberships

The content of our courses is considered VERY seriously! What we teach is evidence based and features the very BEST techniques available. Our Medical Advisors are all AUSTRALIAN based and are at the cutting edge of BEST practice and are PASSIONATE about wilderness medicine. Our associations and memberships with various organisations ensure that we know, and are able to teach, BEST wilderness first aid practice.

Medical Advisory Board

Dr David Millar: Founder of Equip Wilderness First Aid Institute, has over thirty years of experience including emergency, sports, travel and expedition medicine (last expedition was for Operation Musashi with Sea Shepherd in JAN09). Please see “The Team” for more information.

Dr Edi Albert: Edi currently works as a doctor in Antarctica and the Perisher Valley (during ski season) and more conventionally in emergency medicine in Hobart. In 2007 he won the General Practice education & Training “Medical Educator of the Year” Award. Please see “The Team” for more information.

Dr Geoff Ramin: Dr Geoff Ramin: Working as a consultant for services related to emergency medicine, intensive care, pre-hospital care, aeromedical transportation and medical retrieval. Examples of his work include helping train paramedics on Groote Eylandt and providing medical support and training to medical staff for the Hong Kong aeromedically based retrieval system. Geoff is a specialist Emergency Physician who also works clinically in Intensive Care. Please see “The Team” for more information.

Industry Advisory Board

We have an AUSTRALIAN BASED, industry advisory board, that ensures that the content of our courses remains evidenced based as to what the Australian outdoor industry requires. This Advisory Board consists of long standing clients who provide outdoor education.

First Aid Patient Assessment System & Curriculum text

We recommend and teach the patient assessment system, and include content in our curriculum, developed by world known and respected author Buck Tilton. Buck has more than thirty years experience in first aid and extended care, and is the cofounder of Wilderness Medicine Institute (A US based organisation). All Equip students receive a text book written by Buck.
